Day 4 - Belfast - Arrival Day for Researchers

It’s arrival day for the Belfast researchers.  Two arrived yesterday, and two arrived on Friday because of an evaculation from Hurricane Matthew.  The people who arrived today from the US came into Dublin and took the bus up to Belfast from Dublin Airport.  Unfortunately there was construction on the M1 and their trip took a bit longer than usual.  Fortunately, the hotel had their rooms ready and they were able to get a few hours sleep.

My morning started with church at St. Ann’s Cathedral for a choral eucharist.  The choir was primarily made up of young girls with six professional adults.  I love the amazing sound that reverberates off the stone walls.  It brings back fond memories of residencies in 2001 and 2004 at Canterbury Cathedral with the St. Luke’s choir and a tour of Ireland and Scotland with Key Chorale in singing in St. Giles in Edinburgh.

This afternoon the group (those who weren’t sleeping) got together to meet and share information and then had an early dinner and off to bed.  Everyone seems anxious to start their research at PRONI.

Note:  Some blogs may be posted late as there is a problem with the Internet at the hotel.
