Last week's RootsTech Conference was a great success...the attendance was over 4200 up 35% from last year's conference. The purpose of the conference is to bring together developers and users to find solutions to challenges we have today in our research. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to stay in Salt Lake through the conference as I had a lecture back here in Florida.
There were lots of announcements:
FamilySearch announced a Mobile Indexing App
Family History Information Standards Organization (http://fhiso.org) was announced to "develop standards for the digital representation and sharing of family history and genealogical information." Yeah!
BrightSolid (FindMyPast) announced their entrance into the US Market with Josh Taylor as their Business Development Manager
Mocavo (Genealogical Search Engine) announced Michael LeClerc as their Chief Genealogist
To better understand what's happening as genealogy and technology converge, I encourage you to go to the RootsTech site and view the keynote (Thursday Recap). A number of the other sessions will be posted here in the future so check back. You can also look at the schedule where many of the handouts are downloadable.
