Annie Martin, age 18, a servant and her sister Alice age 25, a waitress departed Londonderry on the 22nd of February 1908 aboard the Caledonia. Appearing on lines 8 and 9 of the Manifest, their nearest relative was their father, Patk Martin of Doagh, Carrickmacross, County Monaghan. Alice is listed as a non-immigrant alien returning to the United States with her sister, and going to 400 West 19th Street in New York. Alice had $25. Annie was described as 5’ 5”, fair complexion, fair hair and blue eyes. Due to arrive in New York on Sunday, March 1st, their arrival was delayed by weather…a severe fog caused the ship to be held outside the harbor until the night of March 3rd. 1908 being a leap year, this lengthened their voyage to 11 days.
